“How Is Your Day” is a magazine that helps people learn about clinical depression and explore the topic through different lenses. The magazine features surrealism photography that corresponds to the articles about depression and aims in conveying to the reader the actual experience of depression. The minimalist, yet playful layout is designed to calm one’s anxiousness but awaken one’s passion for life at the same time. The intention is not only comfort, but to encourage the reader’s imagination and free mind with no discrimination.
Rather than directly telling depressed people how to be more cheerful, I wanted to inspire readers to have a curious and imagination outlook on life. The circular shape that appears throughout the magazine is to brighten, and add liveliness among gridded text and images.
